On July 25, the Center Initiative for Training International Researchers (CITIR), under the guidance of Chief Director and Distinguished Research Professor Ishwar Singh Parhar has started a series of monthly seminars. These are being held at Organization for International Education and Exchange building A2, University of Toyama(UT), Gofuku Campus, Toyama.

The purpose of Gaku Talk is to engage students in broader academic discussions, with participation from researchers at various international universities.

Several national universities, including Meiji University, Tokyo, and Niigata University, participated online. International universities such as IMU Malaysia, Taylor’s University Malaysia, Chulalongkorn University Thailand, and Monash University Malaysia also joined the event virtually. In addition, many students from various disciplines at the UT actively took part
The format of the presentation was one main speaker followed by researchers giving insights of their research in 3 minutes. The monthly seminar series kicked off with the presentation from the following speakers:

1. Dr. Mariam Karim
Project Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine and Pharmacology, University of Toyama
Topic: NAD+ Metabolism and Skeletal Muscle Aging

2. Therese Line Laure Jokam Nenkam
Graduate School of Science and Engineering
Topic: Groundwater nitrate dynamics: Unveiling new challenges for coastal water management, risk of oligotrophication

3. Muhammad Sarkawi
Graduate School of Sustainability Studies
Topic: Batik Wastewater Treatment Using Rice Husk Adsorbents and Toxicity Evaluation of the Treated Water

4. Farikhatul Fitria
Graduate School of Sustainability Studies
Topic: Easy Separation Technique of Pollutants using an Aqueous Surfactant Two-Phase System
All the presentations were followed by lively Q&A sessions, with enthusiastic participation from both in-person and online attendees.

In his closing remarks, Professor Ishwar Singh Parhar announced the upcoming TOMIDAI Global Sci Frontiers 2025 Masterclass, scheduled to take place from 24th to 29th September 2025.
Additionally, Chulalongkorn University has confirmed that it will host the next Gaku Talk on 29th August 2025. The Center for Global Researcher Formation plans to support the development of young researchers through this seminar.
